Today is my second day at TIP and is my first day in school for classroom observation. I was also introduced to several other lecturers, from the head of the faculty of education, the principal of Senior High School, her assistant, and also to a beautiful teacher who will be my cooperating teacher for a month at TIP and she is a math teacher of course, her name is Theresa and I usually call her "Mom Theresa". At the day, I was given a class schedule that I would go in for each week. Here's my class schedule over at TIP.

General Information :

The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.)
is a private, non-sectarian higher education institution. It was founded in
1962 by Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino Jr. and his wife Dr. Teresita U. Quirino.
T.I.P. is an engineering institution that also offers
programs in information technology education, business education, maritime,
arts, and teacher education.
Twenty of T.I.P.'s engineering and computing programs
are accredited by the U.S.-based ABET, the gold standard in engineering and
computing education. Its computing programs are also accredited by the Seoul
Accord.
The school has two campuses, T.I.P. Manila and T.I.P.
Quezon City, and is headed by its third president, Dr. Elizabeth
Quirino-Lahoz. T.I.P. has its own Senior High
School and it is located in T.I.P. Quezon City.

T.I.P. Senior
High School offer the academic track in all four
strands, there are Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM), Humanities and
Social Science (HUMMS), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
and General Academic. The school has two prime building
for Senior High School
those are classroom and there are some building for
college, office room, director
room, science laboratory, guidance room, library, nursing room, study area, workshop
room, evaluate office, toilet for teachers and students, auditorium, photocopy
room, sport area, and canteen. The school also has the yard for basketball,
volleyball and tennis court. The school also provides extra-curricular
activities, such as foundation day, scout, lesson project, basketball, etc.
1.3. Teaching
System
T.I.P. Senior High School program
is using K-12 Basic Education
program. In Senior High School, each academic year is composed of two semesters,
and each semester is composed of two quarters. Each quarter constitute one
grading period. Active days in T.I.P. Senior High School is five days,
Monday-Friday.
Teaching system is student-centered learning
which teacher acts
as a facilitator to teach students and students will be able to explore and to
build their knowledge. Furthermore, teacher and students are active side each
other. It also called active learning in which students should solve the
problems, answer the questions during class. The teachers just give some problems to students, and then the students solve the problems. Teacher give one
example and then teacher give one question for students and give five minutes
for students to answer the questions. While waiting for students to answer the
questions, the teacher walked around in classroom and come one at a student
desk and ask if there is difficultly to solve the questions. After five
minutes, the teacher discusses the solution for the questions with the
students. And then the teacher gives more questions for students until the
students understood about the subject matter today.
T.I.P. Senior
High School has so
many materials and learning sources to support students academic. Other
learning sources for students such as worksheet and extra sheets are made by
teachers depends on their subjects. Every class has facilitated with Air
Conditioner (AC)
and fan.
Students’ measurement and evaluation based on the K-12 Basic Education
Program. It uses standards- and
competency-based grading system. These standards and competencies are found in
the curriculum guides. Learners from grade 11 to 12 are graded on written
work, performance task, and the quarterly assessment every quarter.
These given specific percentage weights that vary according to the nature of
the learning area.
Curriculum in T.I.P.
Senior High School is based on DepEd ORDER No. 8 s.2015 Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment
for the K-12 Basic Education Program.
In mathematic major, well-planned
lessons or teaching plan include student activity and worksheet
focused on the conceptual learning goal. (Details about teaching plan will be discussed next)
2.1. Teaching
Methods
In T.I.P.
Senior High School for the teaching methods the teachers uses expository
method. The teacher gives some explanation and give the students some exercise
to be done. The teacher have already prepared the lesson and the materials.
Teacher explain the lesson easily and clearly.
Learning materials in this schools is based on the school
textbook and some teachers make a presentation according to the topic or
subject for teaching that day.
Sources of
learning is based on the school text book, some teachers have worksheet
and extra sheets are made by them depends on subjects. Some
teacher using a laptop and power point to teach in the class room.
2.4. Authentic
Assessment
For the Authentic Assessment, teachers uses write assessment consist
of essay (measured
by worksheet, tasks, mid-test, and final examination).
