On Sunday, 21 January 2018, I and my two friends arrived at
NAIA airport, Manila at 2:00 am manila time. Both of my friends who were placed
at University of Northern Philippines (UNP) have been picked up and I have to
wait alone at the airport because I will be picked up at 7.00 in the morning.
Thankfully, there are 5 delegates who were also from Indonesia precisely from
Medan, they were also waiting for the pickup. I joined them and we chatted
while waiting for the morning.
Hours after that, My 5 friends from Medan were picked up, we
went to a different university so I was forced to wait alone at the airport.
Finally, my mentor came at 7:00 am as promised. We went to Technological
Institute of the Philippines (TIP), Philippines. During the trip, we introduced
each other, my mentor named is Mari Cris A. Azul. She will accompany me for one
month I am here. My mentor explains a few things about her, what I'm going to
do over here and a few things about TIP. After an hour-long journey we arrived
at the TIP, and my mentor immediately took me to an apartment or so-called
condo that I would occupy for a month during my time at TIP. They provide
excellent living facilities. A very convenient place to be occupied and all the
necessary amenities are available in this apartment from the kitchen and its
furniture, bedrooms and its furniture to the fully equipped bathrooms with
everything. Sadly, for one week I will stay alone in this apartment because two
delegates from Valaya Alongkorn Rajhabat University (VRU), Thailand will arrive
next week. On that day, after taking a short break in the condo, my mentor and
I went to the TIP campus, my mentor wanted to show the location of the campus
as well as the school where I would observe and teach. Starting from the office
of the faculty of education to the classes and some other spaces. With a pale
face for having not had breakfast and dazed eyes for having not slept all night
I followed my mentor to go around for a while. After that, my mentor drove me
back to the condo, and before she left we chatted for an hour. My mentor had to
leave immediately and I also had to rest to let go of fatigue. Finally, I fell
asleep very sleepily until the afternoon. Awake from sleep I went to prayer,
that is our obligation as a Muslim.
I will start my day-to-day activities for class observation.
This is my first day’s story in manila, right on TIP. Next
will be more fun and more stories and experiences as long as I run the
activities here. I'll come back with the next story. :)
